What about a Water-to-Air exchanger? Create the shorter tube but incorporate a fluid heat exchanger the surrounds the pipe to the intake manifold.

good for marine use where you have a constant supply of cold water, but in a automotive application you would only be able to cool youre intake charge to youre engine temp. if you have good cool air flowing into the front of youre truck anyway why not use it to improve youre efficency!

He could put a separate water tank for the supply and then it would be close to ambient temperature or add ice when he wanted. This is pretty common in drag racing. Lots of plumbing to do though......

I've toyed with the idea of using an air conditioning compressor for fuel/air cooling, but the loss incurred from the compressor drag would certainly outweigh the benefit of the cold intake/supply results. It that darned physical universe thing working against us. Any self-contained power source, or power enhancement techniques will always find a way to achieve equilibrium...

If there is some place that the energy may be lost, such as work done to offset friction (or heat loss), we use this equation:

In this equation the Wother stands for any work not accounted for in the potential and kinetic energy functions that we know (EGR valves?).

That much is obvious. My suggestion would only be useable for a short period of time before the temperature would rise and you would lose the benefit. This is of course unless you had a permanent source of cold(ie. A/C sytem) which would probably negate any power gains you've made. Now if he wanted to use his truck as it was intended to be used, no this temporary cooling system wouldn't be a good idea. Wait- What if he mounted one of those smaller H@nda type intercoolers directly from the output of the turbo straight to the power elbow. He could cut a hole in the hood, vent cold air straight at it and still see colder intake temperatures, with a shorter turbo to intake tract length(?).(I hope he still understands this is all in good fun.)

it is a truck he could haul around a portable referigation plant like they use at the indian casinos! & duct it straight into the turbo inlet it would eliminate any turbo lag due to the positive pressure from the blower motor! does anyone have a really long 3 phase extension cord?

Man, now THERE is an application you could sell !!! Forget getting home. Hunters, campers, etc need hot water in the field.

I've seen engine-driven generators and air compressors for our trucks, how about an engine-driven hot water heater ?

years ago I bought a 74 IH scout II that had a under hood heat exchanger I cant remember for sure but I think it was made by CON-FERR had a small 12 volt motor w/ a 5/8" hose fitting & a 10 foot 1/2" hose that had a hand held shower head, it tied into the heater hose & worked fairly well not terribly hot but kind of warm. Maybe they still make it! I will ask around & let ya'll know if I find any thing.

These days if I'm camping with just the truck (and we're not in campsite with showers), I just throw in my Coleman portable hot water / shower unit. It's da bomb!

The rest of the time I'm either with family and/or friends and we're in the travel trailer, or I'm hiking on the trail and I don't see a shower for a week Phfewww!! Stanky !

I love mine. However, I've got all the Banks stuff EXCEPT their upgraded intercooler. That's a future project, but the Six Gun has been great.

Most on these forums will tell you, and I'd agree, that you get more performance and flexibility with the SCT.

But the Six Gun has been bulletproof, and the color PDA monitoring is super nice.

When SCT gets the bugs worked out of the latest LiveWire firmware, that might be the way to go.
