Don't have 'em, don't really want 'em.

I'm afraid of sometime having the truck somewhere I SHOULDN'T and getting hung up on them!

Do you mean the smaller single step bars or running boards? If you mean running boards, mine's da Ford ones. Click my pic to see it.

I have the 4" stainless steps that came on mine from Ford. They are really nice. The bigger 5" ones from Ford are chrome and I wasn't sure about the durability of them.

Mine came with the chrome step bars and I'm going back to the dealer to have them replaced. I noticed yesterday that the drivers side bar has pitting and is peeling. Incidentally, my truck has 800 miles on it.

This is my '05...on the second day of owning this truck, I had a car door thrown open and hit the drivers side...they only hit the step fortunately...

The OEMs look decent, our local ford dealer only has the chrome ones, think they were the 5 inch ones, I pushed down on them with one foot on the step and one on the ground and they flexed pretty good, unlike my westins, but want something different on a new truck.
Are those OEMs chrome too or all plastic, its hard to tell from the pics?
Thanks

Thumbs up

I know they are expensive but AMP research http://www.amp-research.com/ power deployable boards are not only bullet proof and super-engineered but blow people away when they come out. They were originally designed as an OEM option and passed all their tests (3 years). $1,300

I don't think the OEM 5" oval tubes on the '07's are "chrome" like the brochure says. If you go to the "Build your vehicle" app on Ford's site and click the "show details" link for the 5" tubes, it describes them as polished stainless like the 4" tubes. I put a magnet to them, and they're somewhat magnetic, about like the stainless exhaust, but nothing like the frame, so I'm guessing they're probably made of a cheaper stainless like the exhaust.

I got the 5" on my '07. They're nice for around town and save the door sills and seat edge from the wear they would get otherwise. I figure I can unbolt them fairly quick if I think I may be taking the truck somewhere they'll get mashed.

Now those are cool, probably have trouble with them in the winter months though huh.

I have the Westins on my truck, just check out my gallery. They are the best investment I think. I chose aftermarket over factory due to being much cheaper and I think nicer looking.

I have been selling here and use them on my demo. They fold up and protect themselves. They went through severe OEM tests from 200F to -40 . That is the number one concern, but so far flawless
