[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Nov-02 AT 08:37 PM (EST)]I work for a well known Insurance co in the auto theft claims dept. I am starting to see more thefts on Ford trucks and suv's with the "pats" anti theft systems. Are there any Ford engineers on this forum that can explain how this is being done? I mainly want to know how to detect when fraud is taking place. I notice the biggest thing these thefts have in common in the claims I am handling are trucks with expensive aftermarket wheels and audio/video installations.
The Fords are so easy to break into that a 3 year old can do it. I had my 02 SCrew broken into in front of the police who watched the guy and never realized what he was doing- it's that quick and easy.

We cannot allow a instruction of this type to be seen by the public for obvious reasons. We would really dislike hearing that somneone had their truck broke into and the person got the instruction here on FTE.
I'm sure you will understand.

I had mine broke into in July and am still fighting the insurance company. Mine will strictly be by remote unlock only.
All someone would need is to see your vin# and go to there trusty computer and they can order a key... its really that simple and plus Repo companies have "Master" keys to gain access if you forget to make a few payments so someone has likley sold a few Keys to some pro ********* theves who have nothin better to do then screw people out of there rides.... with the master keys.... i had an old aquantince who had one put it in and started my truck no prob... Sad people in the world to steel from others
It is a two edged sword, The info previously posted would
give the unsuspecting a heads up on more security mods. I
knew this would probably happen. The theives already know
how to break into the trucks. Most often they simply break
a window to gain access. I guess the main point i am trying
to make is that the F150 thefts are rising. The F150 is #10
on the national average for most stolen vehicles. Don't leave
keys in trucks, think twice before putting a $10,000 set of
wheels and tires on your truck that scream "steal me", don't
leave expensive items in truck. If you have added the wheels,
video or expensive audio systems... Call you insurance co to
advise of the customizations, if you don't you may not have
coverage for the add-ons in the event your truck is stolen or
damaged in an accident or vandelism.
