I was out heading to pick up some furniture tonight and the charging system light came on in my truck. I drove home a good 45 min. with the voltage gauge needle staying between the R and the M the whole way. When I got home I thru a multi tester on the the batteries and it was reading 14.3 V. So obviously the batteries are being charged. What else could cause the charging light to come on? I know the voltage gauge works because it reads low for 30 seconds after I start the truck in the cold due to the glow plugs and pops up after the glow plug cycle shuts off. Oh the truck is a 97' F-250 HD diesel.
get someone to look at light and wiggle wire on back of alt. There is a single wire that plug goes bad and light will come on. I had to replace end on mine last fall.
I did a little investigating and it appears to be either a wire as you mentioned or it is the relay for the light. If it is the relay does anyone know where it is located?
