shift lever

i have a 2001 f150 4.6L I need to know how to adjust the shift lever to get it back on D.

Is D to only selection that is off? You should be able to see the selector linkage on the drive side of the trans. With the engine off and the key on, have someone change gears and watch the movement. Loosen the bolt and set it in P [all the way forward] and everything else should line up.
