Strange start problem

Yeah, there is nothing to it. Two little bolts hold it on the column. I had to open mine to clean it so my reverse lights would work. It can be done carefully by prying the metal cover off of the plastic housing. In my case the little ball contact had a flat spot worn into it so I reoriented it and all is good for a year now.

ok i have a 79 f250 and i have the same problem my truck wont start and after reading this i think it will work but if the nss is making it not start would that still prevent the lights and wipers to not come on even if the key is on? thanks for the help.

The 78/79 NSS also doubles as a Back up light switch.
Headlights are not fused
Dash lights are not Keyed power.
Wipers are though.
IMO, you need to un-hook the battery and get in behind the dash and check out the wiring for bad grounds
