Looking at purchasing either a 99' with 92,000 miles loaded 4WD.... or a 2000 with 72K miles, loaded, 2WD. What should I be concerned about? Any years to stay away from? Anything to look for?
Also, what is the mpg differnce between a four wheel drive and a two wheel?
One of the cars the leather on the console between the two front seats is worn, anyone know where to get replacments for stuff like this?
I have a 99 Expedition...so I can't help with the leather. But if its been well maintained, the 4wd is handy. Check the ball joints....the lowers often need replacing before 100,000 miles. The rest of the front suspension also needs checking....idler arm, anti-sway links front and rear...that sort of stuff.
any noises from the rear end?
If this stuff has all been done, and its been otherwise well maintained, 99,000 miles is not that bad. I just crossed 130K, and I am overdue for new shocks.

Thank you very much for the reply!!
The 99 I noticed when I went over bumps it would rock a little, kind of like a boat rocking type motion when it hit bumps.
The 2000 did not do this I could tell the suspesion was a bit stiffer.
Intech (4v) or Triton (2v) motor? The Triton has a tendency to eject spark plugs, leak on COP #4, and lead oil from the head into the area between the heads (I almost called it the lifter gallery but we know better). The 4v can have troubles with number 7 where the exchaust valve overheats and you loose compression.
I think there's a 2MPG differenc beetween 2 and 4 wheel drive.

So basically you are telling all year 2000 Nav's have issues with the engine?? Is this the only year?
Also can anyone tell me how I can tell if its a 4v or 2v engine?
To tell the difference: On the back of the truck and on the valve covers you will see the word 'Intech'. If you can't find the spark plugs when you look at the motor, you have an Intech.
