I am also interested in this. Especially when we are camping, the lights might be blasting into someone else's campsite at night. I would not like it if someone did it to me and I don't want to do it to anyone else. The cabin and rear lights are fine. I would prefer to disable the headlights from coming on. My explorer has lights under the mirrors. That is much less intrusive.
I think it has to do with whether or not your truck has automatic headlights. If it doesn't, it would have no sensor to tell it whether it was night or day. I'd imagine if it didn't have that, they'd come on all the time...
Nope, the flashing red thingie in the dash is similar to what OTHER manufacturers(read: GM) use for a sensor, but ours have one above the rear view mirror. See the black wires going into your mirror? That should be it.
That red flashing thingie on the dash is the theft deterrent light. Supposed to look like the truck has an alarm or something...
I looked in your gallery, and you do have the autolamps, so you should have that sensor.
It's like the blinking light on the instrument panel on my '03 F150 and my '05 Mustang...the manual says that it indicates that "the passive anti-theft is active". This just means that that the system which requires the programmed key to start the truck is active.
Nope, this is straight out of the 2007 owners manual:
Anti-theft indicator
The anti-theft indicator is located on top of the instrument panel.
• When the ignition is in the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position, the indicator will
flash once every 2 seconds to indicate the SecuriLock system is
functioning as a theft deterrent.
• When the ignition is in the 3 (ON) position, the indicator will glow for
3 seconds to indicate normal system functionality.
If a problem occurs with the SecuriLock system, the indicator will flash
rapidly or glow steadily when the ignition is in the 3 (ON) position. If
this occurs, the vehicle should be taken to an authorized dealer for
service.
I believe I read a forum here stating that to make the lights come on quicker in the automatic mode, you can throw a towel over the sensor in the corner. I have actually tried it with my hand to see if it works, and it does... With that being said, maybe they changed somehting for '07? (of course i can not find the forum that stated that now!)
Well, I thought somebody would have hammered this one down by now but I see it hasn't been done. So, I got up just now and walked my lazy **** out to the truck to check the owners manual and sho nuff, page 91 (locks and security) has the steps to disable the feature that you all are talking about. I got an 05 manual. Somebody double check me real quick and lets see if we can lay this to rest.

Somebody buy this man a beer. The information is there indeed. It is on page 105 of the 06 manula but is there nonetheless. My error came from reading the keyless entry as the fob entry, which is not the same. Thanks for the good work double06.
