I agree with Phil. I have the same truck only mine is a 92. Accept the 4.9 for what it is, a tractor motor. These trucks were made to pull, push ,pull and pull and they do a fine job of it in stock form. I don't think you'll get your money's worth if you start throwing parts on it to try to make it faster. what exactly did you mean by "do any good?"
I did have one on a 2000 chevy and it did help a little with mpg but it made an annoying whistling sound all the time so to me it wasn't worth it. I couldn't feel any power gain. I took it off.
I have one on my '96 and I did note that you get a little more on the high end - freeway driving and the like; but, below about 2000 rpm you really don't get much.
thanks for the input I do sometimes do some highway driving but i usually do city driving and some towing and offroading. thanks its a goog thing i asked before i ordered it i most likley wont get one now I just got the truck and i didnt no if it would help or not i have heard it does a little on some trucks and nothing on others. Also has anyone tried to remove the air pump off these motors because i no you can on mustangs and a few other motors but i didnt no if it would work or if it was a wast of time
