block heater not working
I have an '87 F250 with a 6.9. Up untill last weekend the block heater worked great. Over the weekend when I plugged it in you could hear the "pop" when the plug makes connection with the power cord. When I started the truck a few hours later it was bone cold. I can follow the power cord till it goes under the flap by the passenger side tire, then I lose it. Where is the block heater located? Has anybody replaced it?

the block heater is located right above the starter. most of the time it is they cord that goes bad so you should test that first. a new block heater can be bought at any auto parts store. my grand father put one of these in his truck http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...001648/c-10101 it works great and he loves it

First make sure the BH red power plug is in the BH, then do a continuity test with a meter on the main plug wires at the grill. If there is no continuity check the wires for breaks just behind the 120V plug. Pull on the wires and you can see the break as the shielding gets smaller, cut off the end. If the 2 power wires now have continuity through the BH just replace the 3 prong plug.
