My remote start has been working flawlessly until I got the exhaust pressure sensor recall done the other day. Now, the truck fires up, runs for about thirty seconds, shuts down, fires up again and runs like normal. Any ideas? It's acting exactly like when you hit the brake pedal or pop the hood and it shuts the remote start off. Twice this weekend when it was cold, it just fired up and kept running like it should.
I've been told that the 6.0 needs an additional part from Viper called a tach generator. For the first satrt of the day, it starts and runs for a few seconds and then shuts off and cylces all over again. When it is warm it doens't ever shut off. Call the dealer you bought the Viper from and ask them about the tach generator part. They are back ordered right now and are a little ahrd to get. I am still waiting for mine.
Thanks for the input, but it's been working fine for over a year. This has something to do with the work they did when they put did my window felt and Exhaust Sensor recall. I'm sure if I stopped by a Circuit City and had them take a look at it, they'd be able to figure it out. I just had too bad an experience with the install they did on my 04 F250. I don't trust anyone poking around in my truck anymore. That's why I've always done my own work when possible.
For anyone that cares... This is all set. I had an installer wipe out the Viper memory and reload it with their bit writer. Seems to be all set now. I still wonder what happened though. Why would a re-flash of the truck screw up my remote start/alarm system? I can only assume the flash caused a power surge or something...
