Question for the cigarette smokers

Do you smoke in your vehicle? If so, how do you dispose of your cigarettes?

When I used to smoke, I was responsible enough to use my ashtray and dispose of them properly. I was pulled over once in my ol' Lincoln because one of my passengers through a butt out the window, with a cop behind us. Let her off with a warning, but it was still a headache. I quit 5 years ago after smoking a pack of Camel Wides a day for 5 years (throw in an extra pack or two on during the weekend festivities). I ended up with chronic bronchitis and my right lung filling with fluid every time I get sick. I haven't had a drag since I quit cold turkey. The L.A. air doesn't help with the lung problem though.
I just drink like a fish now...

We smoke in the truck & car, put in ashtray, throw in trash. I don't litter, just pollute the atmosphere.

Don't smoke in the house for 3 years now, too smelly and walls were getting brown. I hate washing walls.

We both smoked 35 years, gotta' quit (ha!) it's killing us, especially office-bound Donna who doesn't get much exercise.

I always use my ashtray or an old pop bottle. Throwing them out the window is not an option around here, especially in the summer time. If you are gonna smoke, PLEASE use your ashstray or something similar. Please dont' throw them out the window. I might get told off for this...but I think it's incredible stupid, lazy and dumb to throw them out the window!

First to ashtray then to garbage. I worked for Parks and Recreation when I was much younger. Littering of any kind was not tolerated. When I smoke outdoors I field strip the butt and put the filter in my pocket to be discarded when I get near a trash can. Sure makes the clothes smell but you wont find a butt anywhere in my yard.
I don't allow passengers to throw them out either. You should see the looks on their faces when I pull over, back up, and make them pick it up. Guaranteed no repeat offenders.
It's all about respect. For others and the Earth.
This post kind of hit a nerve with me, so I will stop before I go into a rant that might upset anyone... We sure wouldn't want that!!!

How many fires in CA are blamed on "careless smoking" each year?

Why do people think it's acceptable to throw litter out the car window? The last time I checked, cigarette butts are not bio-degradable.

I dunno, I'm just asking.

I flick mine out the window, the heat from the cherry melts the snow around it and creates water to soak the smoke and put the fire out. Mind you I live in northern BC....but in the summer I put them out on my shoe or floor mat then flick em out the window, unless Im driving past someones house of whom I dont like (haha jk). I dont smoke in my house either, though If I didnt have kids Im sure I would (I dont smoke in the truck when they are in there either)

I don't think too much of people who flick their butts out the window. Inconsiderate jerks for the most part. Do you think I want someone to flick a lit cigarette at my car?

remembering that youre in California, and I am in Northern British Columbia, Canada....I can tell you circumstances are different. Dry vegitation to +4' of snow, millions of people compared to a city of 10,000. I can see how it would be a problem there....and if youre constantly getting pelted with butts maybe youre too close. Ive never had one hit my truck and there have been plenty flicked out in front of me.

Where I grew up though, hot and extremely dry conditions (semi-arid desert) you didnt flick your butts out the window unless you were downtown and there were hobos waiting to scoop em up.

I dont smoke...

On a slightly related issue, after spending a full day washing, cleaning, polishing, and waxing my new car (89 toronado trofeo)... I took it for a cruise around sunset

I was on the highway, and would you guess what happened? Some *%*% decided to toss a cigg out their window, and it landed ON MY CAR!!! Kapoof, orange sparks all over the windshild. I sped up and glared at him. He flicked me off...

I passed him, emptied my pocket of change, and HURLED it out the window behind me...

I heard a few hits, and he backed way off... Wonder if he got the message?
It was a newer caviler... No personality commuter car, yuck... Now with a courtacy reminder or two on it...

Most cars come with ash trays, even though smoking in them ruins them... USE THEM!!!

They're really easy to remove also, so u can empty them easy...

I only let one girl smoke in one of my cars. She's done so much for me, so yeah... Only in the escort ($250 including registration, the car, and fixing it )
For what it's worth, there's no reason for smoking...

Pud, it doesn't matter where you live. Flicking lit cigarettes out the window is rude, inconsiderate, and illegal in most places.

I throw them out the window. I have never once hit another car, except for the ********* who threw one at my truck then threw a water bottle at my truck he got one purposely thrown. I live in a small town, and usally trip of 7 miles to get there i have one, and its get put out because its on a dirt road, then usally has mud on it, note my truck is extremely hard to keep clean Then normally im using an ashtray since im inside a place. Ive thrown cig butts on my property in the woods, normally when im out there cuttin down trees. I know for a fact i have never seen one start a fire. I guess im with pud on this one, its kinda depends on where you live.

It doesn't matter where you live, it's still litter! Look, I smoke too...but why not use your ashtray or something similar. The world is not one big ashtray!
