Does anyone know if larger brakes are available. I am going to put 19.5 rims on and figured I would have room for larger brakes. I have had plenty of problems with my front rotors and feel a larger setup might be better.
yes there is, i did see a set on one of the sponsors sites i believe, but now i can find it, i too was looking for a better brake set up, i found something i like at parts america . com, a slotted and cross drilled standard size with ceramic pads.
I Do A Lot Of Braking And Thought About Putting Bigger Brakes On. Did Some Reading And Found Out Dot 3 Boils At 225 Dot 5 Boils At 550. Flushed My Lines Put In Dot 5 No More Problems.
A lot of people are having great results with PowerSlot rotors and Hawk ceramic pads.
I was having a few problems before I swapped out the caliper guide pins for the new updated ones. The lower pin gets corroded and gunked up quickly and causes the caliper to hang up and heat up the rotors. I'm still running stock brakes with stock Ford pads and I tow every day. Lately, I'm towing 3500lbs with no electric brakes and no problems at all.
ok, did lil more searching, and the sponsor did not in fact carry the larger brake kit for the superdutys, but here is the ones i like and i can see others also have heard good feedback, http://www.buybrakes.com/powerslot/a...20&%20SUV.html
also, after doing a little reading, the gas slotted rotor is the only way to go for towing, as the cross drilled set is more for road racing and tends to crack under heavy load.
I went with the Applied Rotor Technology slotted cryo rotors and carbon pads, Great Set-up (they are a sponsor). Give them a shout before you decide on the Powerslot.

I agree, I have mine on the way now, and reading some testimony from other forums they are the way to go. They should be on either thursday or friday night. BTW ceramic pads may not be the way to go. Just ask ART they know what they are doing. The guy that runs the company is a ex-Boeing employ. I think he may have done some work for boeing on the space program but not sure. If anyone know about heat dissapation and cyro treatment this guy does.
So your saying Applied Rotors are better then Powerslots? I am going to be doing my rotors and pads real soon just wondering which is best I have nothing but good things from Powerslots
I'm not saying better, I wouldn't pretent to know that much. I just know that powerslot is a big company that uses a third party to do the cryo treatment on their rotors. ART uses a top of the line slotted rotor from Centrix and does the cryo in thier own chamber. I'm sure Powerslot is a quality product but I decided on ART because I could talk to a knowledgable person who knew everthing about the product and seemed genuinely concerned about the application and thankful for the business I gave them.

I think you should just go to there website and get the phone number and give them a call. Tell them you want a quote with shipping and let them know you are an FTE member, I got a discount for it. Anyway, talk to him and then you can choose whatever you want. That's my 2 cents.
Thanks for the information. I have tried ceramic pads on stock rotors with ok results, but the rotors just seem to get too hot in a panic stop situation. My pads have outlasted the rotors. About 20000 miles ago I bought a stock set of rotors and had a friend of mine drill them. They have outlast any other set, I just about t-boned an elk a few months ago and have a slight hent of warping now, stock ones would have been toast big time. I was just hoping I could go to a large diameter rotor when I change out my wheels.

Drilled rotors are better than stock, but slotted rotor shed as much heat if not more and it doesn't compromise the integrity of the rotor, which can lead to cracks and warping. I would take a close look at those rotors and make sure your warp isn't leading to hairline cracks. Drilled is great for racing but how much does weight does your average race car stop vise your truck. The stress on the rotor is alot different when you get to alot of weight.
