Hi all. I am the proud new owner of a 92 EB 351. My first of I am sure many questions is that I have not had a problem with the rear window, except when I have left that truck for like 15 minutes or longer it won't open unless I start the engine. I know the switch on the dash does not work (I have read all the messages on that and will be fixing soon). So is there a timeout in the computer that won't let you use the rear switch unless the motor has been started within a certain time limit.
I have a '92 XLT and just replaced my switch in the dash for the rear window and, found that if the switch is taken out of the dash, the window will not operate with the key in the tailgate. I had to leave the bad switch in just to be able to let the glass down with the key. It seems there had to be a complete curcuit through the switch. Maybe your switch in the dash is loose, and when you start your engine, it vibrates enough to complete the curcuit.? Just a thought, i dont think theres a time delay in the rear window though. Hope you get it figured out, good luck. Rob
yo.in my Gallery, I have a wiring diagram Link for the t/g window..it's a good one..
And yes, both switches must be in the ckt . or wired around to make the window motor op.
Well, I left the switch in the dash alone for now. I just tested it to confirm it wasn't working. But it seems the window is working now with the key on the tailgate. Is there a switch in the spare tire carrier that could have been causing a problem? Just trying to figure it out.
