I know that some mufflers that have packing inside them like the Magnaflows eventually burn in and get louder but only to a point, I have never heard of a muffler that just keeps getting louder with age.

Only if they oxidize through. After about the first 200 miles, it should be as loud as it will get.

just to follow up, I would recommend the JBA exhaust to anyone with a 5.4; I was almost disappointed with the sound of the muffler; but I guess 200 miles wasn't enough for mine to oxidize, it has gotten quite loud after about 400 or so. Real throaty, and deep, but not superloud like some of the split gibsons. But ofcourse it roars at around 2500 rpms and above. The only thing is it resonates after it shifts into fourth, and if I keep it slow, around 40-45 MPH it sounds like a 15 inch woofer inside the cab. (which may be due to the camper shell?) The clamps supplied with the kit are also kinda weak, I had to have my mechanic weld it in order for it to stay put.
