A friend ask for me to post a question about his Ford 350. This truck has the 7.3 diesel engine. I don't know which automatic tranny he has.
The question is about: Went he starts from a stop the transmission seems to hesitate a few seconds. It does seem to move then hooks up solid. Other wise this transmission works okay. He does use this truck sometime to pull a closed trailer and with load, both weight about 6000 lbs. The truck will act this way just driving and when pulling a trailer.
The truck does have high mileage. I think about 200,000. He has had the oil and filter changed I think once. I don't know what the mileage was.
im no expert on trannies, but i would say his torque converter is failing, and once that starts to gummy up the fluid it takes the rest of the trannie with it. chances are he has the 4r100 if he has a late model 7.3...1200-2500 for a rebuild depending how stout you want it
