How long do injectors and injector pump last?
How do you know if they need to be replaced?
I have had the truck since new, gets a solid 18mpg, same as when new when running empty.
However, mpg drops to 10/12 when hauling my 3,000lb cabover camper. When new I used to get 14/16mpg.
Worn injectors do not pop, open at lower pressures, and don't close as fast as they should, resulting in higher fuel burn, and you will find the truck smokes more at idle than it should. Several threads here reciently on this subject. With those miles on original you can bet your due for new injectors, the pump doesn't owe you much with those miles either, but with fuel additives it could last a long time. Normally the IP will start leaking , you will see fuel in the valley below the pump, or timing seems to wander, or gets hard to start hot. These are sysmptoms I've seen posted here anyway.
