I am looking in to starting a new project and would like to use a 92-96 Bronco. The only problem is I want one without power windows locks and so on. Every Bronco I have seen is a XLT. I know a XL was made but how are they equiped?
The requirements for the vehicle are V8 (302 or 351 no preference) and AC. I would prefer the truck have no other power options or as few as possible. Automatic is prefered but manual will be OK.
I really hope the Bronco experts around here can help me out.
In a perfect world I will find a 92-96 Stock bronco with a V8 automatic, and AC.
I had a 98 F-150 equiped similar to this and it was badged XL. I just can't find out if there was a similar Bronco.
Did Ford make a "work truck" package for the Bronco like they did for the trucks? Or just a XL?
There are Bronco's out there with the XL package, as I have seen many around the Denver area. I think there are a lot more XLT's, as they offered the packages most buyers preferred. You will just have to look around, there's bound to be some available somewhere.

I've seen many Broncos with the XL package.Basically,the base model was re-named XL.It was the Custom trim in the 80s&'90-'91 Broncos.I think in either '92,or '93 the Custom was replaced by the XL as the base model.It shouldn't be too difficult to locate a V-8-powered XL,because all '93-'96 Broncos have either the 302,or 351 V-8s in them.I always thought a 5.8L XL would've been a cool Bronco to have.Most of the ones I've seen had the 302,but I saw one for sale,about a year ago, which had the 351 engine.Usually you'll find law enforcement agencies,of government vehicles with the XL trim.Good luck in your search.
As DeGideo mentioned, you see a lot of these in the government auctions as ex-FBI, Border Patrol, Air Force, etc. vehicles. I saw a couple several weeks ago that were ex-FBI and Border Patrol. If you want, you can log onto www.gsaauctions.gov and register to bid. This will let you look around from state to state and check out what's available and bid, if you choose.
96 XL 351 manual with cruise and tilt. no power windows or locks. All vinyl interior. I bought it at a state government auction a couple of years ago. Previous owner was state DOT. great truck!
Hey I have a 1992 Bronco Custom just like you are looking for and i am thinking of selling it. My email is boguilbeauNo Email Addresses In Posts!). Email me and i will send you more info.
more..here is rural Southern NJ the dealerships did seem to address the "needs" of the local folks in their inventory;
dealers close to Atlantic City stocked mostly XLT's, Sports, and EB's;
while our "farmland and rural" dealership stocked the XL's with 5.0's/5.8's w/manual X'fer Cases; manuals/E4ODs; & tow packages.
btw, got our xl for $19,000 +T&T (new); MSRP was $25,400 +T&T, etc.; cheapest new xlt sport was $24,800. (best quote, not MSRP).
I remember seeing a really sharp-looking dark blue XL in '96 at McCafferty Ford's lot back in late 1996.Must have been a "leftover".I remember it had a 5.0L,and a blue fiberglass top,but I forget if it was an automatic,or a 5-speed.I think the original MSRP was between $23,000-$24,000,which I thought was good for a Bronco,considering my Dad's '94 5.8L XLT listed at just over $28,000,and a lot of XLT&Eddie Bauer Broncos cost $30,000-32,000 in 1996.I forget at which Ford dealer it was at,but I remember seeing a '96 Eddie Bauer that had a $32,000+ sticker price.The good old days were back in the 80's when you could get a loaded-up '86 XLT for $16,900!And that was with the 5.0L engine,and a bunch of other options.His '89 Custom listed at just over $19,000.I wonder if a 2003 Bronco were produced,how much one would cost?
Damn, you guys have been a big help. I am just too poor (time and money) to travel more that a couple of hours away from home to inspect a vehicle. I am having no luck via the net locating such a Bronco in the E. TN area and Nashville. I will keep looking though.
If anyone has a vehicle like this for sale and vacations in the area I would be interested in sending you back home minus Bronco with some cash. I live near Gatlinburg Tennessee and maybe someone out of the millions that come here every year (and back up traffic for twenty miles every day to play putt-putt, ride go karts, and go to outlet malls) might see this and email me. Until then the search continues.
Thanks again guys. This seems to be a very good forum.
I just bought the bronco you are describing. It is a '94 XL, 302, e4od auto, manual windows and locks(except rear window), rubber floor mats, manual t-case shift and hubs, no cruise tilt or tape player. Has a/c and am/fm radio. I picked this one up for $3000 with winch and custom bumper, NADA retail is around $9500 and I have seen a couple more of them equipped like this here in Louisiana, good luck in your search. ED

$19k?!? What year is this Bronco? I was just wondering why it was so much. I guess I really did not know how much they were going for those days. I worked as a car salesman for Skyline Ford in Dallas, TX for about a year in 1998. I came in two years after the last broncos hit the lots and left. What a sad year in 1996 for the Bronco to end and be replaced by the Expedition. There was really only one reason I was a car salesman.....it was to get a new car and find a new job. A month before I left I was DEAD SET on getting a Mustang GT Convertible until "IT" was sitting parked in the Used Car Area of Skyline Ford. A Green 1996 Ford Bronco 4x4 Eddie Bauer. Leather seats, Power everything - windows locks, Active Rear View Mirror, Custom Wheels, 351 stock, Auto Alarm, Towing Package. The previous owners added a Chrome Front Grill Guard. The only option I could not find on this Bronco was the Signal Side View Mirrors. And the best part...only 9000 miles on it. The sticker on it said $24,700 - I got it for $17,700. Yeah, Yeah I got a tremedous discount because I worked at the dealership. But if you ask me it was a steal. I bought it and quit Skyline Ford a month later. The Bronco is still running strong. Anyone else get a steal on thier Bronco? Here is a picture of it.
