OK I searched this and tried everything that I found but I still have a problem. Lately my rear window won't work with the key or switch after the tailgate is down and put back up. I have to keep slamming it shut until it works. I cleaned and checked the switch in the truck. I checked everything I could find inside the tailgate. I did find a wire coming from the rear quarter into the tailgate that was cut. This wire is in the harness and looks intentionally cut, not broken. It is purple with a light blue stripe. I can't find it on any wiring diagrams that I have. I took the switch out that hooks to the key and it looks ok. I followed the wires to a connector in the center of the tailgate, there are two wires here. That connector is ok. I tried pushing in on the tailgate and that won't work. I have to slam it or hit it to make it finally go up. It's ok until I drop the tailgate again. What am I missing? What does the cut wire go to, I can't trace it very easily.
Yo Blueman,
I see it in a Haynes manual (80 thru 86 ford trucks & bronco):
in the 1983 bronco section...
from "down" term on dash switch to "down" terminal on tailgate mounted sw.
It basically replaces the usual PINK-LT BLUE color code in most schematics for other model yrs
and the usual pink PINK-LT GREEN wire is prob PURPLE-LT GREEN in your bronco.
Here are 2 on-line schematics:

I forgot to mention my bronco is a 1990. I have never been able to get a good grasp on the electrical systems of vehicles. I am positive that the wire was cut prior to my problem and the window works with the wire cut right now. I think the window is one problem and the wire has me baffled, it must go to something, right?
