hey i've just got a question about what headers to use, i searched the forum and found alot of good info, but not actually the answer i was lookin for, i am fixin to start building a motor for a friends pickup, its a 79 f-250 regular cab that is gonna be kinda a hot rod. we gonna put together a 419 windsor for it with a set of dart pro 1 heads and a victor intake and a 850 holley, it'll have a c-6 with a dana 60 rear with 3.73's and a locker. my question is of all the headers i have found listed all of them are kinda small, in the 1-1/2 or 1-5/8 range, i am lookin for a header for our trucks with a 1-3/4 primary tube size, do they make such an animal or will i have to build a set my ownself, preciate all the help from yall goood folks
I think you are going to be stuck with shortie's. I'm running MAC shorties for a 351 fox body swap in my '77. I'm not sure what size the primaries are, but they are bigger than the headers that were on my '90 bronco. There's always the custom weld up option as well.
Hope this helps.
well thats what i was afraid of, but like i said its not actually my truck their goin on, a few years back i used a set of flowtech long tube headers on a 66 with a mild windsor and a c-6, and they cleared ggood, but the primaries were only 1-1/2, this motor is gonna be a little more serious of course not to mention quite a bit bigger, on your 77 swap, did you have any problems with teh driver side header interfering with the floor pan or anything else? i was gonna use a set of equal length on my 91 4x4 once but the driver side looked questionable so i didnt, that'd be my real only concern with using those
