So I crawled under the truck today to see what I could see, and I found that my rear main seal is broken and letting oil through....Yes I am sure its the rear main, only coming from the center of the engine, where the rear main is. Luckily I guess I caught it early enough to tell where its coming from. Anyways, it's a 1994 351W, and I'm not entirely sure.......Do I have to pull the pan to replace this, or can I just drop the tranny and work on it from that side?
I have heard that you can either pull the engine or drop the tranny. My rear main leaks too, although VERY slowly. I think I'm going to wait til my auto tranny needs a rebuild to replace it. Heard about a guy that will convert my E4OD to a 5 speed (yes, the entire kit and kabootle, will be drivable right off his lot) for about the same price as a rebuild, might go that route Good luck with the rear main, let me know how it goes.
