Just picked up a '96 xlt w/28k ...real cream puff! I'd like to make some performance upgrades... stainless exhaust... maybe a chip. Any ideas or recommendations? I'm not looking to make it a rocket or anything! just some more get up and go.
Any advice would be appreciated. GB
I have a 95 with the 5.8. I recently bought a toy hauler travel trailer. At first I had a bit of concern pulling all that weight. But I made a few calls and 1st think I did was install a new performance exhaust, magna flow. It's a straight thru muffler but not loud, sounds great. That was about 280 bucks installed.
That made a little difference. But then I installed the K & N filter system. Not just the air filter, but the whole kit. It's call the Fuel Injection Performance Kit (FIPK). That made a ton of difference. So with both systems, I can really feel a big difference. I mean it's still not 460 cubic inch engine, but it increased my uphill towing about 10 mph which is excellent!
