Hard Start After Shutdown
Working on 95 7.3 shut down during cold weather warm up. Restarted ran for a while then shutdown again. ( As per Driver!)
I worked on this truck befor and put glow plugs,G.P relay and valve cover harness in it but not injector o-rings. It smoked pretty bad when cold but the company didn't want to do any more.
I used a Snap-on scanner and the code said I.C.P. not as expeced. I checked the HPOP psi. by putting a 0-3000 psi gauge on both lines coming off the pump and got 2400 psi. then I replaced the injector o-rings.
Before pulling the injectors I checked the hold down bolts and thay were all less then 100 in. lb torque. The lower o-rings didn't look that bad. The one under the back up ring showed some wear. I torqued the inj.s 120 in lbs.
After a lot of cranking and bleeding air from the oil lines I got it running.
Now my problem is after sitting for a couple min's it is hard to start. If I crank and crank it will start. Could there still be air in the oil lines?
Also this truck has 189000 miles on it and thay are using 10w30 oil. We stock
20w50 would that be better?
Any help appreciated!!
No on the 20w50....USE DIESEL RATED OIL ONLY! Any other oil will make the engine run like crap. 15w40 rotella, delo ect. Synthetic is better IMHO but big $$.
