Hi I just got my edge evolution eef2400 for my 2005 F-150 4x4, I was tring to update it and now it dosent work. Dose anyone have a restore key that I can use? I called edge but there closed for the weekend. I wanted to set it for level 3 for the beach/dunes.
I should know this but, if the factory PCM was programmed for 35" tires and then you custom program the edge for 35" tires what do you have? Do all levels pick up the PCM programmed tire size? Will changing it make the truck think I have 40's?
Im not sure... Im new to all of this.. I just got my edge last week and all i have done to it was change my tire size. runnig level 3 w/ tire size 325/65/18. I want to change a few more thing but not sure what to change them to ....
what happens if your running less than high octane on the number 3 setting, im looking into getting either the edge evo 3 or the troyer programmer so i wanna know what the down sides are!
Programmer alter timing and spark to take advantage of the higher octaner and produce more power. The factory sytem uses knock sensors to adjust timing and avoid engine damage. The tolerance between valve and piston is close enough that the valve will contact the piston under load or hard acceleration when the timing is altered based on 93 Octane and something less is in the tank

Wait a minute there. Isn't the relationship of valve/piston position dictated by the cam timing? Unless I'm misunderstanding something, could you explain your comments better? I thought the programmer only adjusted ignition timing and spark advance levels.

I'll attempt to. Edge Evolution uses the variable cam timing PID in its stratedgy with the 5.4. However the most likely result (wrong fuel) is pre-detination and burn the piston. We have not had any issues except for one situation of regular fuel in extreme mode and hauling a trailer. It was really messy. The display clearly reminds of the fuel rquirements each time level 3 is loaded. Unfortunately he ignored the clear instructions from Edge. The programmer adjusts ignition timing, spark etc automatically but also allows custom tuning. I have heard some suggest they E85 5.4 may be even better suited to the the programmer, does anyone know why that may be?
I didn't even know that Ford had developed the VCT. I just read up on it and educated myself a bit. You learn something new every day. Your post now makes perfect sense to me.
