Chip compatability

I've got a superchip from a 94 SHO 3.0. I know they've got the same computer and was thinking of trying it out in my 3.0 Ranger. Are chips just plug in and drive, then pull and back to normal? I do realize there are differences in the engines to begin with, but I still think they'd be compatible as far as fuel adjustment and w/e else.
