I'm new to this 2000 v6 Ranger and I've noticed a too much shaking/vibration on the stick shift rod, especially when driving over large bumps or rough roads
my older 94, 2.3 didn't do that.
Do these newer trucks have a softer suspensions and softer mounts?
than older 94s 2.3?
New to the Ranger forum? Welcome home!!!! Climb underneath her belly and poke and prod them engine mounts lookin' for unusual movement. Use a prybar or my favourite, a hydraulic jack and a 2X4. Some extra feel through the shifter is normal, so if your experienced with the manuals, you would know if it's a bit odd.

let us know what you find. Happy St. Paddy's day
I meant new to my Ranger, not to the forum, but thanks for welcome me anyway.
How many mounts total are in the Ranger 3.0L?
Can the motor mounts go bad with 75000 miles?
With the right abuse almost ANYTHING can happen. Or even happening to come across a factory defective part. Check out what fflintstone suggested. Does it happen at all while idling?

The previous owner used to go off road with the truck.
don't know fer sure, but if it's true blue, there's 2 engine mounts and 1 trany mount. I like to jack up the engine & trany an watch the mounts move. You'll be able to tell if ones bad.
LOL! That is a scary thought if he was hard on it. I assume its a 4x4 from that comment as well. Definately check that out.
You assume wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its a 4x2, the guy was insane, but I got a great deal on the truck, I hope he treats his wife/girlfriend better than his cars
Check all the mounts. When you hit the bump does the shifter move side to side or forward to back? Does it do it when the front tires or rear tires hit the bump?
I'm banking on the transmission mount on this one... usually if it's an engine mount you can watch the stick lift and shift to the side everytime you accelerate.
It could also be a sign of tranny work, or something of the similar lines. Since my work, i noticed my shift stick(is there a proper name for this peice of equipment?) moves easily once it's through the gate. there is some play in it.i find this to be natural, and isn't causing any damage.
Well!!!!!!!!!
I went under the truck, and there's only 1 trany mount on the front and looks very good no cracks or separation, same with the two left and right motor mounts?
I'm not too familiar with the 2000, 3.0L I had a 94, 2.3 L before, and this newer, trucks it's a lot softer in suspension, maybe the shaking is normal?
What I don't think is normal is the shaking or Hesitation if you want to call it that way, when the truck is already warm and the motor shakes a bit too much in IDLE only, no backfire or anything like it the truck runs smooth and quick response to the acceleration, but when I'm at the light or waiting, the motor shakes like it's pausing.
BTW, I replaced the PFED, EVR, Cleaned the EGR ports, and holds vacuum ok,
new spark plugs, maf is clean no check engine light, what else?
