I got brand new laptop from school about 1.5 years ago. And tonight all of the sudden left bottom side of the screen became kind of blurry red. Its not completely red, just little bit, enought to be notices.
Anyone knows what the problem might be and what should I do?
Screen failure is probably the most common problem with laptops. Do a google search for "laptop screen repair", you may be able to diagnose and repair your own and save some $$, if you're handy with a screwdriver.
Hopefully you have a warranty.. LCD screen repair can be costly.
one thing that goes wrong with the screens is a bad power inverter.. It is a small circuit board that is usually at the bottom of the screen behind the plastic trim. Unfortunately they are hard to get by themselves. I have gotten one off of ebay that worked great.
I don't think this is your problem though.. The power inverter usually affects the whole screen and makes it dim..from what I have seen..
What brand laptop is it? Maybe they have some info on their site about this problem.
What if I keep it this way? Will the rest of the computer be affected?
Its HP Compaq NW8240. Its kind of pricey, I had to pay over $3,000 for it over period of 6 semesters.
You could just run it like that if it doesn't bother you.. It will probably get worse over time.
Also if it was bought through the college there should be a warranty. Ask the IT help Desk.. They should be able to help.. They may have an extra screen they can swap for you...
Yep, school requires this laptop and requires students to buy it, although not once I used all kinds of special programs that laptop has. $800 laptop could've done the job too.
For 3 grand I hope you got a deadly laptop! I was checking out some prices before I bought my 800 dollar laptop, and for 3 grand you get an amazing one!
