Hey guys, a buddy of mine has a 99 Powerstroke. Today the battery light came on we replaced the battery's since they were original and the alternator. We had the alternator tested and it was bad. The battery light is now flickering at Idle and on under load. Any ideas on what we should check next?
The generator output is supplied through the battery positive output (B+) terminal on the back of the generator to the battery and electrical system.
I Circuit 904 (LG/RD)
The I (ignition) circuit is used to turn on the voltage regulator. This circuit is powered up with the ignition switch in the RUN position. This circuit is also used to turn the charging system warning indicator on if there is a fault in the charging system operation.
A Circuit 35 (OG/LB)
The A circuit (battery sense) 35 (OG/LB) circuit is used to sense battery voltage. This voltage is used by the regulator to determine generator output. This circuit is used to supply current to the generator field (rotor). The amount of current supplied to the rotor will determine generator output.
Thanks for the info Alan! It ended up being a fusible link that the casing had worn trough from rubbing on the chassis and corroded the wire to the point of breaking. Got it replaced today & it seems to be all set.
To amiller93, reading old thread about 'I' circuit, and a test procedure.
I have 02 7.3 this is the 2nd alternator. Still have original batteries.
thank you
