they're all right. get the system recharged with refrigerant. the fact that she's coming on every 10 sec is that there isn't enough gas on the low pessure side to compress back into liquid on the high pressure side. there's an accumulator on the system yhat stores liquid refrigerant until the system needs it for cooling. when you're low on coolant, that accumulator empties pretty quick, causing the compressor to kick in every 10 sec.
Maybe so. But before you go add some more, take it to someone who as a set of real A/C gauges that can check the high-side and low-side pressures while the truck is running.
It could be cutting out because the pressure is too high because of an obstruction. I had this happen on my LTD. Low-side would gradually come down, but the high side would get up over 450psi (dangerous) if I remember correctly.
Anyway!
No one here could tell me how often the compressor clicks, is it every 10 sec?
I just don't need to waste money at the shop if nothing is wrong with the AC.
How do you tell when the AC compressor is working correctly? Mine is cooling just fine, the clicking sound is what I'm not sure?? Maybe if someone explains to me in more details how often you hear the AC switching when its working properly, then I can really know for sure if its working ol right.
I know I hear mine fairly often, about once every ten-fifteen seconds at crusing speeds. It is fully charged and the pressures are perfect. And it's cold even on the hottest of days, it usually puts out air in the 36-40 degree farenheit range.
I've heard of others taking two-hour interstate trips and never having the compressor cut out.
