V-10- Dumb?

Hello all - - Going to be retiring this summer, and thought I'd buy myself a retirement toy. You guessed it, 08 F250 V-10. Don't really NEED it, I don't haul much or pull much and my 02 F150 is fine.Trouble is that I REALLY like that 3/4. and the V-10. Wifey is OK with it. So, my question is, how dumb am I to lay down 37k clams for a run around 250? My thoughts are that you only go around once. Any comment's?

I have a whole stable full of vehicles

We got the heavy duty truck to tow a trailer we no longer have

Fell into very good job situation but no time for over the road travel so we fly and hotel it these days

I kept the F350 just for the pure joy of the thing and it is now a good example to my co-workers of conspicous consumption

Guilt? maybe a little, but usually there is some snot nosed wise *** on the ride home who thinks his light weight half ton Hemi powered truck it real hot... the look on his face when a 7800 pound truck with 4 doors, long bed, 4x4, and long haired tatooed old man driving hands him a lesson in acceleration!

These events generate such a BSEG, that all guilt is quickly removed and the costs of hauling my beer belly to and from work seems worth every dollar of the expensive gasoline required

BTW I do not believe for one minute in man induced global warming!

Maybe you'll have lots more time for projects...so you'll need a pickup to haul some stuff from Lowes/Home Depot

Really though, the truck I have is a lot of fun to drive. I owned some toys, got married, had kids, and sold the toys. Then I talked the wife into "needing" a pickup, and the F250 was the ticket. I really like the truck and no longer miss the toys so much. If I were in a retirement situation, and was financially secure enough that I could afford the truck, I'd do it in a heart beat. I figure this truck will likely last until retirement, then I'll buy a new one.

You answered your own question in the last sentence.

We only get to run on this hamster wheel once!
In my final moments I won't be wishing that I never bought a new truck. I will be lamenting the fact that I wasted so much time mowing the lawn and shoveling snow instead of motorcycling and snowmobiling.

Wow, If the wifey is OK with it I would be on the way to the dealership quick. Get your truck and enjoy your life.

Siv,
It is not dumb. DO IT! You will never regret it!

Also, like Woodrow F. Call said to Newt, "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it." Woodrow was a smart feller...
