It should be closing on its own when it's cold enough. Maybe your ebp sensor or tube is clogged and it's not working right. There are certian factors that have to be met for the valve to close. I would think you could wire it up on switch to close it when you want but i don't know for sure. Someone else should be along to answer this for you but i would try to clean your tube and sensor first. It is easy to do and you could see where taht gets you.
I have mine set up with a six pole three position switch that is ON/OFF/ON.
One of the on positions it's an exhaust brake, ie closed all the time.
Off is off, it never comes on.
The other on position is factory setting. It will come on as needed in below freezing weather.
I drew up this diagram a while back. It's crude but will give you the general idea on how to wire yours up.
If you have an automatic transmission, you'll have to include torque converter lockup on the exhaust brake side of the switch.
dont you have to be pretty careful with the torque converter lock. When do you want it locked and when do you not want it locked. That drawing works just perfect for me
