Intake manifold bolt

Well i am removing the intake manifolds so I can modify them. . . or just make new ones. But there is this one bolt, passenger side, very front, the one down toward the valley. Its hung up on the HPOP housing. It won't turn anymore. I'm pretty sure that I got that off last time when I had the heads off. Well that isn't going to be the case this time! I'm probably going to just cut it off. Or cut it down. If anybody has any better ideas. . . swing them my way. Thanks.

If you cut it off, can you get the rest of it out of the head?

I am an idiot

Well I feel stupid. Almost an hour trying to get this manifold off. Most of the time I spent cutting and chiseling the bolt out when all I had to do was loosen it and the manifold would come out. THe manifold is slotted so all you have to do is loosen it. Pisses me off because I ruined the bolt. . . and won't have another one to go in its place till I get my new HPOP. DAMN! Oh well. . . back to it.

ugh

Now I'm really Pissed off because in the process of chiseling out the bolt head. . . I cracked the corner off the head. I'm so furious at my stupidity sometimes. It won't comprimise the structure at all. . . but its still so irritating.

I remember when this happened when i switched my manifolds, it got stuck right on the hpop, and i started thinking damn i gotta take off the hpop, then i just tried pulling it backwards and it came off. It took awhile to figure that one out.

should have known

yeah I should have known that since I've had them off before. It was just a damn stupid mistake. . . and just a little lookin around would have been the solution. Oh well. live and learn.

Hmm, sounds like you need a few beers. Are you making aluminum plenums?

Live and learn...that's the truth.

I had a learning situation this weekend while pulling the turbo. I've had my turbo off 5, maybe 6 times, and each time I take my external fuel pressure regulator off the spider before pulling the spider out. The way I've got the regulator bolted to the spider, it's pretty time consuming to remove it. It just hit me this weekend that I could simply unhook the fuel lines from it and leave the regulator attached to the intake as I pull the intake out. Much quicker. Oh well. Live and learn.

What did you do back there this time? Oil leak or exhaust leak or what?

I replaced my damaged compressor wheel with a slightly used one, in much better shape. Although, I think I do have a small exhaust leak starting, but didn't have the parts to get it fixed.
