I did my normal L.O.F. blah blah blah. I decided to wash my engine with engine cleaner to monitor a potential leak. I rinsed the stuff off with a light stream of water (low pressure). I started the engine, it was weird almost as if a gas engine with a wet distributor. The motor died. I thought ***** WHAT NOW!!!! I grabbed my air hose and blew over all electrical stuff, Let it sit a while, floored it and started it up. Throttled it a few times and it is back to normal. WHAT THE HECK DID I DO?????? WHAT DID I WET THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN WET? I sure don't want to do it again.
I am just guessing that there are several thousand electrical connections on Quick disconnect plugs for every type of sensor or relay or whatever. Probably got a little water in something and it could have crossed signals or temporarily shorted.
Did a similar thing to my Bronco at a car wash one time, would not start and then ran very poorly. Condition cleared up as the water dried up. I would suggest only washing the engine when it's not hot from running and allow it to dry in the sun with the hood open for a while before firing it up.
I washed my truck last week and sprayed everything really good. Gave her a good soaking with the thought there would be no problem because ther are no ignition wires.
Well when I started the truck I was right, I had no problem. Ran just fine, maybe I was lucky

I dunno! I washed the living grime (although not much grime) off of mine with the pressure washer a couple of times a month. So far, so blessed 'cuz the truck starts right up and asks for a duh-ra-max to snack on! I hope life is as good for all of us for the rest of our days!
Look in your owners manual....it tells you what to cover before you wash it.
Sorry to intrude, but hey Bear, do you have a bigge pic of your avatar somewhere. There's just something in that pic I was hoping to get a better look at.

You know what she is asking, f me, give me a baby and pay for me the rest of my life.
LOL @ Jim... She can come on down here, I'll pay for her the rest of my life! Watch this turn out to be Bear's wife or something.. Then I'mma feel real bad considering we are soldiers..
Do not use water, instead use WD 40. It will get the grime off and you do not need to rinse. This was told to me by my Ford service tech. I used it and it worked great.
