I recently had a magnaflow cat back exhaust installed on my 05 F-150 with the 5.4 and am unhappy with the performance change. I actually lost some power down low. My truck is otherwise stock so would a CAI fix this problem and does the CPU need to be re-flashed?
Did you go to bigger diameter piping? Cut out the cats? A CAI will get you some better low end grunt, but a programmer would get you better bang for your buck.
I had a 3" Flowmaster exhaust system installed and didn't get a big difference until I installed the Edge Evolution. I would definitely recommend getting that, huge difference. I run the Edge in Mode #2, Tow mode, and when I get on it the truck roars. You won't notice a big difference when changing exhaust unless you add a chip or change the Air Intake. Not too cheap to do all at once though!
I decided to pull the air filter out and go for a quick drive. That alone made a big difference. I think it's time for a CAI and chip. I've seen some programmers priced at around $500-$600 but also a module at around $800. Is the module the better route? Thanks for the input too BTW.

I dont think exhaust really changes the power of the truck to be honest i maybe wrong but thats what i alwasy hear a cold air intake, programmer and exhaust is the best combo for power
