My truck has been in the shop numerous times for no throttle response during the first start of the day. A Field Service Engineer was sent to check on my truck from Ford. He showed up at about noon, when it was about 75 degrees out and said everything looked fine. When the service manager told him that it was a cold problem and explained it to him he said that it was normal with the 6.0l.
My question: Do other people's trucks only move at idle speed during the initial start up of the day, especially when it's cold (below 45 deg. or so)? I can move at idle speed, but upon depressing the accelerator there is no response for the first thirty seconds or so. If this is normal, it seems like something to report to NHTSA or someone because it has created several near misses for me already when pulling into traffic.
Off topic, but I thought I say it. The engineer was supposed to call me so I could meet him when he arrived. He didn't. When I asked that he call me so I could talk to him he told my service manager that it was against protocol for him to talk with a customer and that he refused to call me. The lady who sent him said that she has never heard of that and that the engineers often go for a test drive with the customer to experience the problem.

I'm in WV and two weeks ago or so the nights were down to 15 degrees. I'd go out and start my 6.0 and let my dog do his thing. About 4 or 5 minutes later I'm in the truck and off I go up a pretty steep driveway...then on the highway and off I go. Absolutly normal throttle response...no lag what so ever.
Ok so none of you guys have seen COLD! Last two weeks it has been down as low as -15 to -20, truck is plug in and have NO throttle response problems at all!
Sounds exactly like the stiction problem. Local dealer did buzz flash, no help. Figured one of the injectors must be going out, replaced all 8, no help. Dealer called Ford, thought the new inductive heating flash would work, waited for it, no help. Now they sent this engineer, said it was normal. Do you think if the mechanics thought it was normal they would replace all the injectors?
On the bright side, once it warms up the truck runs better then it ever did with all the new software and injectors. Went to Colorado last weekend and got 21.5 mpg. Best mpg ever.
I had this problem with my 04. They put in a new EGR. Once in, I removed my butterfly plate and unplugged the new EGR so it will never open, or get stuck open. My truck had this issue when it was hot, not cold.
Also, you could have a fuel filter issue. Change your Fuel Filters and call me in the morning. No fuel = no power
