Cool did a Sonnax kit .. now tranny is running hotter ??

put in the Sonnax shift kit ... process went well. I put in 6.5 quarts of oil and dipstick showed full.

After i put my gauges in my tranny was running 140-150 just cruising (thought that was kind of warm) ..

After the kit today i went and ran it .. it got up to 170 when i was running hard .. so I just puttered home and all the way home it was still climbing .. got up to 180 when i got to the house .. i was driving fast enough to move air across the cooler, but why could it still be climbing ?

I checked fluids again when i got home and it shows full on tranny fluid. All i did was the normal drop the pan, pull the filter, pull the valve body .. put everything back exactly, torqued everything to specifications ... what else could be wrong. Did I mess something up ???

You said that "just cruising" it was 140-150, and when its really working hard (read- slipping) due to the extra work being put through it, it will raise the temps 20-30*. Even at that, it is still nothing to worry about until you get around 200*.

Well does the edge stuff raise line pressure? If so with the sonnax kit raising it also you could be to high.

i don't THINK the edge does that much to the tranny if I'm not mistaken .. i was worried that 180 was pushing the upper limit

Normally we should see 60 - 100 degrees above ambient.

I just did the Sonnax a couple of weeks ago and haven't noticed a temp change at all.

Dragging the boat on the freeway on warm days I will sometimes see 180 but rarely.

Just my .02

well it's 72 degrees here right now .. so maybe 160 or so isn't bad .. or maybe I just need to add another tranny cooler .. what's that ? another mod ???

No you temps are within spec. Mine run the same as yours.

PS: Outside temp must been a little higher than that cuz my roof power vents on my house were on this aftersoon!
