I have heard two different rumors about the future of the Ranger. One rumor is that they are ceasing production after the 2007 model year, and will come out with a new one in 2009, and the other one says they are closing the plant after the 2007 model year, and there will be no more Rangers. At this point I don't know which one to believe.
Closing the plant: 100% true. Living in MN, we know this to be true. I've heard rumors about it being based on the Explorer, a larger frame more like an F150. Who the heck knows at this stage.
I'd like to see something in the Ranger platform in the future.
There's 4-door test mules running around Detroit as we speak. Truck tend said we could see the crewcab as soon as 08, they have allready been spotted, so they could be right. Freirefishing, you just bought your truck, what you gonna do if the crewcab comes out next year, give me your truck and buy a new one ha ha.
Well, they had a SHO Ranger in '89 that never made it to production. Hopefully this time they will follow through. Can't see them giving up on that market.
wendell if i could afford to give it to you i would, i know you would take care of her for as long as you had it, if they do come out for one, i would try to see if it could work out payment wise, and if they offered a 4cyl diesel i might take them up on it as well.
i love the 4.0 engine with its power, but financially, unless i win the lottery, ill spend most of my playing money on gasoline, (cruisin, boating).
didnt this happen last year with gas prices rising before the summer season and it seemed to level off during the summer months last year??
The ranger isn't going anywhere, it will be around in one form or another, be it a ranger or an f-100. The crewcab design didn't take no effert on thier part, they allready have it in every country but here. With tougher epa standards, the diesel maybe a little tougher to pull off. Rodney Harrison, the owner of Harrison ford just got back from Detroit for a product review, he said the ranger is definatly on the board for some upgrades and a redesign. He couldn't tell me any details, cuase then he would have to kill me. He did say he saw some crewbab prototypes while he was up there. He also said it was an exciting time for ford, that there was alot of cool product on the boards for ford and linclon mercury, thier gonna come back strong. A guy on another forum said his dad works for ford in Detroit and his dad said there would be a v8 option for the ranger by 09 o 2010, thats the first I've heard of that, but who knows. I also read that the ranger would be moving back to Louisville and share production facilities with the explorer like they use to, that was in truck trend awhile back. The same issue said the bronco was a go and would have straight axles, removable top and hose out flooring and compete directly with the wrangler. If so, ford is sure keeping tight liped about it.
A V8 Ranger eh? Now that would be nice. Wonder what all those guyz who put V8's in their Ranger will do when Ford starts selling them on the showrooms?
a redisign with a 4dr here on usa would be a good way to start.
+ eleventy billion
I would buy a quad cab Ranger (3.0 w/ 4.10 gears) in a minute.
If they do keep producing the Rangers, I sure do hope they keep some fuel efficient engine options. In the case of my 04 Ranger SCAB 2WD, I get 20.X MPG on the highway. Not too shabby.
They have GOT to address fuel efficiency. A V8 would be "cool" but for what I use it for, a solid V6 with decent mileage would fit the bill nicely, as I expect many Americans would agree with.
