Cowel Emblems
What I can tell you is that my truck has the older type of stand alone "F-250" emblems and located just below the "2" and the "0" of this emblem are two small "EMPTY" holes which at one point in time I believe held some type of designation emblem.
Problem is that I have no idea about what that original designation emblem may have been or about how to go about trying to identify it may through verification of certain features or equipment on my truck.
So, If by chance there's anyone out there with info to share that might help me to find out what type of designation/emblem was originally on my truck? I sure could use some help on this one!
Thanks,

On the rear, near the tallights, the trim level would be placed there. Either "Custom" or "Ranger" or "Ranger XLT".
As for pics.....browse some galleries, look for '76 and older trucks. There you should see what your truck should have.
Anyway, I do have the "Ranger" designations on each side of the rear fenders as well as on my glove compartment. However, what I was interested in finding out about was what type of emblem was originally located just below the F-250 symbol on the front fender?
Although I am aware that this is the location where the "Camper Special" or "Super Camper Special" emblems would normally be located. What I don't know is how to identify or verify what emblem was originally on my truck. Another consideration is that I'm not exactly sure if there were actually any "short bed" SuperCab's that were also designated as "Camper Specials". All of the "Camper Special" emblems that I've been able to find so far have all been on long bed trucks!
Which brings me back to "square one" I guess! Well, not exactly because I do know a little bit more that I did before about what emblems were NOT on this truck when it was originally sold! It's definately NOT an "XLT"

First let me answer your question about the location of the "missing" emblems. Yes! The emblem location is in exactly the same place as the ones on the blue truck you mentioned. Only all I have is two empty mounting holes on each side located directly below the F-250 symbol. I can only assume that since there are two "empty" mounting holes on each side of my truck, that there must have been some type of an emblem installed there a some point in the past. One thing I'm sure of is that when this truck was new, the original Ford dealer didn't sell this truck with two empty holes on each side of the truck.
As for your inquiry concerning the 3 character body code. Unfortunately, I can only provide you with the first two characters (C7?) because the third character was drilled out when the automatic door locks for the security system were installed.
Here's some additional information about my truck which hopefully might provide you with some additional assistance in locating an answer for me.
The vehicle I.D. number on my truck is F25JKV47799, I believe my truck was manufactured at the Kansas City plant in Sept of 1974, I have a 460-4V engine package, my wheel base is 139", it is an F-256 4x2 pickup with an f-276 Chassis Cab and the GVW is 6,350, my rear axle code is C8 which is a Dana 60 (5300) 3.73 gear ratio with a limited slip differential, my transmission code is "G" which I believe is a C-6 3-speed automatic. The only trim package emblems currently on my truck are the two "Ranger" emblems located on each side of the rear bed and the "Ranger" emblem located on the door of my glove compartment.
I guess that's just about everything that I currently know about the history of my truck! Although I know that it must seem kind of crazy to some people, however I really do have a desperate need to know what in the world was installed in those empty holes, before I go totally nuckin futZ!
Thanks ever so much for your interest in my inquiry & especially for the EXPERT level of assistance that you are always so willing to share with anyone who needs it!
Hope to hear back from you again very soon,

I believe as I did before that the XLT badge is missing.
Item # 13.

However, I do know that some models were equipped with swaybars and upgraded braking systems. Since I've never actually seen and or maybe never recognized the hardware associated with these items. I can only assume that they may have been part of the trailer special package.
Maybe if I could see some photos of exactly where these systems are installed on some other trucks. I could then check to see if I might have similar parts on my truck?
Although I do understand what a swaybar is and what it does. I'm not really familiar with what they actually look like when they are installed on a truck?
One additional thing about the possibility of the XLT badge being missing. Since my truck does NOT have the upper chrome package that runs end to end down the middle of both sides of the truck. I really do not think it ever was equipped with this package.
At this point I'm really thinking more along the lines of the basic trailer towing package rather than the camper special!
All I need is to find out how I can verify this through visual recognition of whatever items are part of this package!
I think that photos would probably be the best way to go if anyone has any for the trailer special package
Thanks again for hanging in there with me on this one guys!
