Got new truck

Hey all im new to this site. I just bough a 02 ranger edge 4x4. So is so fricken aswome. i am really pleased with how it drove and the looks of it. The only thing i didnt like were the small running bordes and there is this trim thing going on the top edge of the bed. Doesnt really matter though im just gonna take it off.

Congrats and Welcome to FTE!!! When you say Edge, does that mean its a stepside bed? If so that "trim thing" holds the fiberglass bed sides on the truck! You definately need them.

I believe I have seen Edges with the styleside beds, so the trim doesn't do anything but protect the top of the bed.

Welcome to FTE dantheman88125...lots of knowledgable folks on here 'bout the Ranger.

So give us some details...engine, transmission, axle, body style, options, etc.!!!

Yup, Edges came in Stylesides too. Benaghetto, you're probably thinking of the earlier Splash models.

I like the plastic on top of the bed rails to protect things and keep it from scratching, but each to his own!

I had the same feeling as him back when I first bought my truck. So I attempted to take that trim piece off, but what I uncovered was that there's hex screws under the little caps. Then I took them off and the trim piece, the top side of the bed was loose. It also exposed a 1/4 inch lip around the inner most edge of the bed side. Here's a pic that shows the bed sides. As far as the tailgate goes it does nothing for it, but the bedsides its necessary.

Yes, by all means take off the running boards, offroad they are noted stump catchers and mud plows. Welcome to the site, were sure glad to have you. First thing is to crank the t-bars to level the truck, then throw on a set of bfg 265/75-13's, a truetrac lsd and then we'll start on some engine mods. "O YEAH", it's your truck not mine, "sorry", I get carried away ha ha. Welcome.

Benaghetto, Have I told you lately how sharp your truck is, if not, it looks awesome!!!

Well I guess you could take the trim pieces off and put the screws in as Tomtoc's pic shows. You're just left with that lip and the screw heads exposed........

Right on! If you knew someone that knew what they were doing with a buffer and some rubbing compound the scratches under those bed pieces would come right off. Sharp truck!
