Oil cooler ???

Does the oil cooler on the 7.3 use anti-freeze, or outside air to air cool it, or both combined to cool the oil.

oil to water, do you have oil in the degass bottle?

This is a view of the end of the oil cooler if you were to remove one end housing. Engine coolant runs through the tubes, and engine oil surrounds them, the oil passes around the plates in the second picture.

Alan - My CD manual just shows me a picture of the cooler but that's all. I'm just trying to understand all the working of the 7.3.

Anything else you need to know? I have pics of most of the rest of the engine's internals. Got bored one evening so i decided to pull the engine and disassemble it to see whats going on inside.
