I have seen it done but the only draw back is if you use the same length leafs you lose the progressive leaf spring concept. The top spring will ride on a stiffer 2nd spring because you have basically doubled the 2nd spring. Depending on what you doing with the truck it will ride real rough. Put a lot of weight on it the top spring will try to ride over the stiffer 2nd spring and actually snap at the hanger. The reason they are progressive is part of suspending the weight they also in a limited way slide on the face of each other. If your looking to add another spring there are spring updates for F-350 by added the next progressive 3rd spring. Spring shops can get them easy it's like 100-125 dollars. They were installed for snow plow guys who wanted to hang a 9 foot Fischer plow on their truck which is like carrying a volkswagen on the front.

I had the spring shop build mine with two extra leaves when I replace my front springs.

Good thing I had my teeth pulled several years ago, I would have chipped them all the first pot hole I hit after the spring change.

Now the front don't drop when I pick the plow up, even if there is a VW on the plow when it comes up.

My spring pack looks like three regular full length bottom springs under the top leaf.

Custom front springs, 4 leaves each, new front shackles, new U bolts, new mounting hardware ran 600 dollars last spring.
