Warranty

Does anyone know if adding a lift and bigger tires will void out my warranty?

Should they, NO. Can they, YES... All depends on if your dealer is mod friendly or not.

Keep in mind by either lowering or lifting, you are changing the geometry of the suspension. So yes they can refuse warrany.

The only part of the warranty it possibly could void is the suspension portion it should not affect anything else. Thats what my service manager told me where I bought my truck from, but I'm sure every dealer can be different

I spoke with the service manager yesterday about the leveling kit I ordered....in short he said that if my truck developed a problem with teh front suspension and they could show that the leveling kit caused it then I would have to pay up. However, the rest of the truck would still be covered. That got me thinking, if thats true about the leveling kit could they not try and prove larger tires damaged brakes etc... or that an after market stereo/speakers caused the alternator to go out.... I know I'm being a little over the top but could they actually do that??

Technically yes, but will the techs do it? More then likely not. If you have your truck chipped and lifted and it causes tons of damage and he's going to get raped on warranty times to fix it, then he's problably going to try to get it voided so he can work under Customer Pay labor hours. So if he doesn't feel like getting 4 hours of pay for a job he knows will take him 10, he might fight for a voided warranty.... Do you blame him though?!?! It's more your fault then his that the truck broke, he didn't mod it, you did.

I'm guessing my dealer is "Mod-Friendly" as SVT2205 stated.

I just purchased the extended warranty. They didn't say anything about my Fabtech Lift underneath, and happily took my 2300 bucks for the ESP...

Guys I'm a Ford dealer I can only tell you how we handle it. Ford's policy is very reasonable in that it allows the service manager the latitude to decide if any modification is the direct cause of a failure, it's not covered. If there is any doubt we side with the customer but depending on the circumstances may caution the customer that if this same failure continues we may need to suspect the modification is causing the concern. If the customer shows any loyalty to us such oil changes and especially buys the mods from us then we are going to take care of him. If we never see the guy for so much as an oil change and he comes in with attitude (mooch for short) then its fourth and 10. We make 6 bucks on an oil change but it sure goes a long long way with us as do customers who buy ESP. Talk to your service manager and give him your maintenance and ask him to match the pricing on the mods and you should be well taken care of.
