has anyone installed a intercooler? Is it worth it, and is there any others than Hypermax

unless you are making at least 15 lbs of boost, an intercooler is not worth wasting your money on.

I think Dave S has a couple photos in one of his gallerys on this.A 92 f350 I think.I woulden't say its totaly worthless under 15lbs of boost no mater what your still cooling the inducted air and cooler air will create more oxigen.more oxigen will make a more complet fuel burn.every fire needs oxigen to burn

Actually, the cooler air has increased density creating better combustion within the cylinders. Add a ram-air setup and you are set!

Also, If you tow, it'll lower your EGT's 200-300 degree's.

So, yeah it's worth it. But with our lower boost, compared to a PSD, you can get away with a higher efficiency, smaller IC.

with the low boosts that the idi turbos produce, an intercooler is a waste of money, regardless of the size. you will not notice any increase in power. you will have much better luck putting a ram air intake setup on it, and it will cost a few hundred dollars less also.

the piont being why not cool the air you have.ya you may not see the power gains like you will with a newer motor.look at it this way if you cool your egts 200 to 300 degrees you can turn your fuel up a little more to pick up the power.A freind of mine installed the ats system.his IP is truned up almost all the way and his egts get no hotter than 1000 degrees and thats pulling a heavy load(65 bails of hay actually) up the steep grad to his ranch.so don't tell me its piontless anyway you look at it.to top it off he only pulls about 13lbs of boost.well it sounds like Dave S is the only guy on here that can use an inercooler eficently

you misunderstand my point. you can do the same thing, if not better as an intercooler on a turbocharged idi with a ram air intake setup, for a lot less money. my ram air is going to cost less than $75. a decent intercooler setup to do the same thing is going to run somewhere around $1000.

The only downside to an intercooler is the price tag.
That price tag is hard to swallow with the slight gain in power you may see with an intercooler.

A large exhaust will also drop the EGT and increase the power, and you can buy several 4" exhaust systems for 1000+ dollars.

Ram air from in front of the radiator will also drop the EGT.
