My truck started loping seconds after startup. It cranks fine, but once it fires it sounds like it's about to stall a few times, catches itself, and then idles normally. Where should I start?

Oil is Chevron Delo 15W-40 and it never gets below 50; average temp is about 70.

Normally we see lope idle in colder temps and switching to 5W40 synthetic helps. Any starting problems?

Starting problems, no, it just lopes a little after initial startup. I've been running 15W40 since I first purchased my X, it won't cause problems if I just now switch to 5W40 will it?

No, it shouldnt, but every truck is different. My truck got the romps when I used an oil additive, so now se gets straight 15-40.

Have you always used Delo? My truck wil do it every now and then when the temps drop below 50 overnight and I try to start her early in the am.

This is actually my first time running Delo. My neighbor suggested I try some seeing as a buddy of his had a great experience with it; he himself now runs Delo in his '04 6.0. My truck doesn't like oil additives either. I used some Lucas and at another time some Diesel Lube and it hated both of them. Between foaming the oil, it made the engine run like crap. I may see if I can find a 5w40 synthetic because I've always wanted to try synthetic and see how my engine liked it. Is there some sort of additve I should use to clean things out before I do this? Also, what do you recommend in the way of a 5W40?

Rotella T 5W40 no need to add anything but remember there is about 2 quarts in the HPOP system so if you want to get it all out you need to get a suction gun and suck out the reservoir.

If it is below 20 I get a couple of romps on DELO 15W40 but never over that. If I was getting romps at 50 I would check fuel pressure during cranking just for piece of mind.
