Some have done it, but you might be pushing it a bit regarding the width of the tire versus the 7.5" width of your stock wheel. Most tires that size want something in the 9+ range. I ran 31.5" tires on my stocks for three years ... no problems. And I have seen 33's. It's just a matter of how comfortable you are from a safety perspective.
You will be fine. You can find plenty of 33" OD tires rated for 7.5 inch rims. I personally would not run a 12.50 inch wide tire on OEM rims, but for 17's a 285/70 works well (about 11 to 11.50 inches wide or so). Not sure if you have 17's or 18's. A lot of people run larger and wider on stockers, but I am not a fan since the contact of the tread to the road is not ideal. I have seen premature wear in the center of the tires in these cases. Possible they had the incorrect air pressure.....

Joey, I find your post to be very interesting. I am planning to put 33's on my stock Lariat 18 inch rims. Funny as heck, two different tire stores gave me conflicting information. One store said they would not do it because it was un-safe. The other said I would have no problem, since I have a 2" leveling kit. 33's don't even come close to rubbing. Heck, I might go with the 35's. But then I would need new rims.
Oh, by the way, the two different tire stores, same franchise! Go figure!
bfg at's come in 305/65/18 which is a 34" tire fits fine on stock wheels with lvl kit. Pro comp makes a 305/70/18 mud tire which is 35 tall but only 12 wide which i thinks is the perfect for the stock wheel on a lvl truck. Some people are running 35's 12.5 on stock wheel with no problem. depending on the thread type some are experiencing rubbing issues. 35's will work on stock wheels, or aftermarket if you keep the same backspacing as the stock wheels.
What's out there for the 20" wheels? I haven't looked real deep yet but I can't seem to find a nice tall meaty tire for my stock 20" rims. I think the 275/55/R20's on there from the factory are a little short.
I believe when start getting over 33" you should plan on new gears. One of tire web sited had a table that tell you what wheels fit what. min.- max. wheel width. If I come across it I'll post it.
Sorry to all for probably re-hashing info from older threads. I have 3.55's on mine. I always figured "tires is tires" and never thought about gear ratios and the like. Guess I need a deep troll through the old threads.

I have been told the same in the past. The reason for some of the shops that told me they would not mount the tires is due to the manufacturer specs on the tires. Basically stating we recommend mounting this tire on an e.g. 8.0"-9.5" rim. I simply go somewhere else that lets me decide and be responsible for my own decisions if I choose to go against theirs and/or the manufacturers recommendations. Sounds like a liability issue from their side with these shops to do that work.

True, but also do not forget about the added weight. If you introduce aftermarket wheels and tires, you could be talking 25+lbs each tire/wheel combo which will play into power loss that you feel. Braking is another issue.
I been looking to get new rims and tires for a while but have been on the fence on tire size. I thought the nitto terra grapplers 325/60-18 would be a nice fit with my 2" auto spring. Now I see that BF Goodrich has 325/65-18 now avalibile. That size comes out to be 34.6 in diameter. Would that be to much for only the 2" lift up front. I will fit them on 9"rims. Just wondering if any one has that size or close to it. I stay on the pavement but don"t want to chance rubbing. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks BWEP
