Checked the transmission sender for the temp shortly after I install it and gave it a test run. You guessed it, it leaks. not a lot but it is leaking. Did not use any tape as the instructions said.Anybody got any ideas? It is tight, almost all the way in. don't want to force it.
Use some Teflon tape to fix the problem. DO NOT overtighten! The Sending unit will bottom out against the internal valve body of the tranny and could split the tip of the sending unit.
I am not a pro on this but I think you have to be careful on using Teflon tape or sealer as some senders need to be grounded to the transmission case. I have seen senders that are two wire (one of which is a ground). I would reread instructions or even call supplier for clarification. good luck.

Good point as most Autometer temperature sending units are grounded automatically...which means they count on a connection between sender and the tranny. If that's the case, use less and only partially (2/3 or so ) up the threads.
Be careful tightening it up too much. Like someone said, it can get tight where the tip goes in and break. I've had this happen, and it is not a fun fix. If it starts to leak again, you can use some teflon tape on the threads, just leave the first couple of threads with no tape on them so it can ground to the case.
