Ok all you loyal readers out there. I'm trying to get a new TSB started becuase of an issue with my truck. What I'm asking is for everyone willing is the next time they drive there truck and are stopped at a stop light whenever you take off punch it as hard as you can w/o powerbraking it with O/D off. If you have the same issue as I do your transmission SHOULD shift real hard from first to second so hard as to it might sqeal the engine belt a little. In any case it SHOULD (IF YOU HAVE THE PROBLEM SHIFT FUNNY) it is very noticable if you do have the problem. My truck is an 05 2WD lariat with the 4r75e transmission in it.
Ummm hard like it jolts you? or is it just the squeal you hear? My 01 did it, but I haven’t any desire to be that hard on my new truck. I guess I don’t see the problem with the squeal… your going from 5k to about 2k in a second? There is a lot of momentum in the serpentine belt to make that kind of change that quickly, hence slipping.
My truck from the time I got it had a nice easy smooth shift now 23K later its pretty hard for some reason and it is intermitten so its leading me to think it is electrical.
I think I know what he is talking about. On my '01 the belt would squeal but the shift wouldn't be "hard".
On my '07 when accelerating heavy the the belt doesn't squeal, but the shift doesn't go smoothly. Usually I try to keep the RPM at around 2000 or below, even then I notice that the shift from 1st to 2nd doesn't seem to sit right with me.
This is due to your driving habits. The transmission shift characteristics are adaptive. If you drive like a grandma all the time it adapts to a less aggressive shift strategy.
I do usually drive like grandma. I tend to never go over 2K whenever accelerating but theres always that time whenever you have to get out in traffic in a hurry.

Thats the way mine is sometimes it'll squeal the belt sometimes it wont but almost always will not shift right or like it is suppose to.
The dealer is afraid to tear into it b/c if they do and say don't find anything noticablly wrong with it ford will not pay for the repair and ford's so called engineers don't have any input to offer.
You know its almost like it starts to slip then catches all at once. I have noticed a slight hesitation in between the shift.

Ive seen this a lot on the F150 just road testing them. I think it has a lot to do with the fly by wire synchronization. I dont like the hard accelleration upshift 1-2 either but I think its just a design characteristic rather than a defect.

Ken,
I don't really like that "FEATURE" is there a way to reset that? or have the dealer reset that? This is my First new modern AOD tranmission ever.... I have always owned Fords with C-6's and have always had shift kits. I like the old-school predictablity of the shift... I feel as at some points my transmission is slipping when it probably isn't.
