Arrow MAF Tamper???

Was going to purchase a set of "tamper" 6 sided star bits (TORX), but was not certain if this is what is needed to remove the MAF sensor on our V10???

I would hate to purchase this set...and then come to find out that it does not work. I know I could return, but who needs the aggravation?

You knowledge is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
biz

How much more is that a regular set? All mine are "tamper" bits.

Better to have and not need than to need and not have.

BTW, I don't know about the MAF bolts.

Well the set I was looking at is only a 7 piece. But apparently there are other types of "tamper" bits available.

Again...that is just an example.

My MAF uses the normal TORX and IIRC the basic set I had included the correct small size

FWIW... I always by Torx sets with the hole in the center for the tamper proof pin

That said... I still have sets with no hole and most of the time if I run across a torx bolt with the pin and my bit is "normal" no hole I just break off the pin by wiggling back and forth with a jewelers screwdriver or other small implement

Yes, break off the pin - case closed

Of course, I did buy the rigth bits with the hole in it...

And I do believe, when I did my '01, it has the pin in the center.

I'll be finding out soon, lots of maintenance needs to be caught up on...

Good advice guys! I will make certain I purchase a set with the holes in the center.

Ok...another part to this question:

Should I buy a set that attach to a 1/4" ratchet wrench?

-- OR --

Screw driver style bits?

Any favorite(s) here?

Get 1/4" ... You can go the right-angle this with a ratchet, and using a 1/4" driver handle, use it like a screwdriver.
