spark plugs

im hearing alot of complaints about plugs blowing out. has anyone had this happen to them or heard of this happening. and is there anyway that i can change my plugs now at 90200 to keep this from happening. or anything i can do to stop it

About 2001 back on the 5.4, the heads had a low number of threads to hold the plugs in place.
Don't know what you have but don't worry about it if nothing has happened.
Don't do any good. You can die in 1 hour but you don't worry about that either.
Take things as they come.

Actually it's every modular built until '03. Keep them changed every 60K and torque them properly when you replace them and you should be fine.

i have a 4.2 4x2 it has 90200 approx. and i dont know if the plugs in have ever been changed

I believe it's only the 5.4 mod motor with the plug blow out. The 4.6 and 4.2 I don't think ever had the problem.

thanks 92 merc i just bought the truck and i didnt want to have to put that much money into an everyday driver.

I have replaced heads on 4.6s for the same problem in those years. Never on a 4.2 however.

I'll second that....change them and just make sure you don't overtorque them down and you should be fine.......Not like us with the 3v 5.4L, these motors will break the plug off in the head when you try to take them out
