Well, I noticed this weekend that the Engine light was on when I was at the lake with the boat. Truck ran fine on the way home towing and all. I did notice something strange when hauling up a steep grade (North side of Grapvine). Was in tow haul mode pulling about 60-65 up it with about 5k on the hitch. Normally empty I am seeing about 26-28 lbs of boost, the boost was almost pinning on 30. I thought this might be high so I let off a bit since the engine light was on during the haul home. Maybe I have an overboost condition?? Turbo heading south?? Will the T/H mode allow the truck to boost a bit more?? Or maybe it was the load + grade that got the boost higher. Only have 4500 mi on it and am still getting familiarized.
Truck did not seem to lack power and got regular towing mpg's right around 11.5 and that was into the wind. Seemed to be running normal and I am interested as to why the light went on but don't want to scan it myself. It's heading to the dealer anyway for the light and an oil change.
Who knows, just thinking out loud a bit. Worried that I am getting a CEL this early in the game, but the truck is running fine.
Towhaul doesn't affect engine parameters, it only changes the shift parameters of the transmission. If you are boosting higher than normal with a check engine light you definitely should have it looked at.
